How to fix your Company's Google Place Page Street View

  • Google has the marker and street view image completely screwed up for my Company's Place Page, and it's sending people literally to an abandoned building instead of to our location - How do I fix this?

wrong_turn.jpg Answer: Google makes it relatively easy to move your place page marker, and align the corresponding street view image. As you've noticed it's very common for them to get the location or view wrong. Here's how to fix it...

Google allows any Google Places user to make an edit to a location marker. Personally I've fixed the location of markers for dozens of places that I've run across which were wrong. It's about 2-7 days after making the edit that Google typically approves the change and makes it live.

In March 2010, Google added the ability to fix any Street View image as well. This makes it easy to fix both the Location Marker and the Street View Image at the same time. The following method can be used for any business, even if you're not the verified business owner. Of course this method requires Google approval in order to complete the edit, which should reduce maliciously moving your competitor's marker.

Go to the Map view and click the More link on the info bubble. You'll see a menu with Move Marker on it.

Street View - Drag Pin into position

Move the red marker to the appropriate location for the business entrance that provides the best view. Then click the Save button to apply your change. It's really that easy.
