Bing Upgrades their Technical Search Results


Bing is hoping to convert the tech world to their search engine with improved searches for technical queries. The search query upgrades were announced on their blog and the updates include:

  • Improved API Reference and Code Search - Bing search will now provide use examples and code for APIs directly within the search results, eliminating the need to visit various sites to find what programmers are looking for.

An Understanding of Non-Alphanumeric Characters - Bing can now keep a developer's query in context so that when searches include items such as :: (scope), ++ (operators), or () (function) they will produce more accurate results.

Improved software downloads - Bing has evaluated the top factors that people are searching for when researching software including: product description, price, best download location and product reviews. This information is now displayed within the search results entity panel.

Microsoft Questions with Instant Answers - Last but not least, you can now search questions about Bing products with instant results displaying within the search results.
