City Pages - The Ultimate Landing Page for Your Community


Google has launched a new service they are calling City Pages to a couple select big cities across the U.S. These cities include:

It appears that prior to choosing these cities Google went into the area and hosted a series of community events, such as a concert tour in Portland and a BBQ tour in Austin. The idea was to highlight the presence of Google in that specific area and a personal knowledge of the area before launching these specific City Pages.

The result appears to be a cool community page offering local community information, local offers and a somewhat intimate relationship with Google. Take a look at the home page for Portland:

Picture Friday night in Portland. Can't decided where to eat? Just click Portland's page, check out the available offers and choose from one of the many featured local places. This is also a go to page for those preparing to visit Portland. The calendar items on the right are great. Why not just click that and add it to your travel itinerary?

There are two aspects of this new launch to talk about. Most importantly, pay attention to when Google comes to your city. Try to get in on the ground floor if you have a business that can benefit from this type of marketing. This is a well done site that pulls places, offers and community events into one page and if this takes off, it will be huge!

Don't miss the boat on this. If you do business in one of the already launched cities, better get moving :) As you can see from the screenshot below, to get added to an existing city page click the Business Owners link at the top of the page and you'll be sent to this page that is full of resources for you.
