Expect Some Changes to Apple Maps


At Apple's 2016 WWDC, they announced that Apple Maps would undergo a redesign with iOS 10 that would increase its functionality considerably for users and app developers alike. The redesign will open up Apple Maps to third-party developers so apps can be integrated into Maps directly with the use of extensions.

With this redesign, Maps will become more of a platform allowing users to do things like search for the nearest Mexican restaurant, book and pay for an Uber ride, book a restaurant reservation, and integrate with CarPlay for hands-free directions.
