Facebook Says Bye Bye Bing

Facebook has dropped Web results formerly provided by Bing, within their Facebook search. The move took place at the same time as they launched a revamp of their own search results that allows users to easily find items posted by their friends. When Reuters reached out to Facebook for comment they confirmed the change with:

We're not currently showing Web search results in Facebook Search because we're focused on helping people find what's been shared with them on Facebook.

Facebook CEO, Zuckerberg has previously stressed that search is an important component of Facebook's future with 1 billion searches on Facebook a day. This could be an indication that Facebook hopes to take their own search capabilities even farther in the future. Facebook and Bing have had a long standing relationship with Microsoft previously providing their banner ads until 2010 when Facebook started their own platform.
