Foursquare Boldly Adding Features & Slashing Others

Ever since Foursquare split off some of its features to create the Swarm app, their staff has been busy. So far they've released an updated logo, Foursquare app, and went so far as to officially split some of the functionality of the old Foursquare app into the Swarm app. Foursquare made it clear that going forward their main focus will be personalized local search. The newly updated Foursquare app gives you the option of adding your preferences, following specific experts and even tracking your daily movements to see what sort of places you like to patronize.

"Tell us what you like, and we'll be on the lookout for great places that match your tastes, wherever you are."

On the other hand, Foursquare's new app, Swarm, is used for "checking in" to businesses and connecting with friends.

"With Swarm, you can easily see which of your friends are out nearby, figure out who is up for grabbing a drink later, and share what you're up to."
