Google Buys Facebook Competitive Data for $400 Million


wildfire.pngGoogle just acquired a whole lot more than the VERY popular social media marketing app when they purchased Wildfire. Don't get us wrong, this app is one of the best and it allows companies to manage their promotions, pages, analytics, apps, tweets and more across all the major platforms including:

In a brief 4 years of operation, the company has experienced a rapid climb to the top with nearly 400 employees and a client list that includes Amazon, Sony, Target and even American Express. The reported sale price of $250 million is expected to be closer to a whopping $400 million after pay outs and employee bonuses.

The feather in Google's cap from this purchase is that they now have a lot of inside information on all of the platforms that Wildfire was popular in. The most important being Facebook. This could potentially give Google+ a boost in the right direction.

Operations at Wildfire will continue as usual for now but with the speculation that the purchase has put Facebook in a bad position of having too much information available to their competitor, it will be interesting to see how it pans out.
