It's Okay to Put Third Party Reviews On Your Site But...


The practice of placing your company's online reviews from across the web on your own company site has previously raised concerns that it might adversely affect rankings. However, Google's John Mueller recently allayed those fears with the following tweet...

As you can also see from the tweet, John further notes it's against Google's guidelines to mark up reviews from third-party sites on your own website.

  • Actionable Strategy --> The takeaway is that you can have third party reviews on your site - you just can't mark them up with Structured Data markup. You can only markup unique reviews given to you directly by your customers that are NOT published anywhere online.

    When you're pulling in reviews from other sites remember that it's NOT unique content so it's not going to boost your authority in the eyes of Google. Instead it's all about the user!
