Mobile is Becoming Profitable for Everyone


Mobile search is no longer just a way for people to investigate a purchase to be made at a desktop or in a store at a later date. A recent study by Marin Software shows that about 30% of ad conversions on Facebook and paid search impressions and 38% of search ad clicks were on mobile devices in the third quarter of 2014. This is a huge indication that although desktop is still the way most people make purchases, consumers are becoming more comfortable making transactions on their mobile devices.

Merchants aren't the only people benefiting from the increase in mobile search, a bi-annual report from IAB shows that internet ads this year reached a historic high at the half way mark at $23.1 billion, a 15% increase over 2013 at the same time of year due in large part to an increase in mobile revenues. The data shows that mobile revenues increased from $3 billion in 2013 to $5.3 billion at the same time this year. Social media ad revenues were also an area that saw some significant growth.
