New Google Publishing Platform Instantly Pushes Content to Top of Search Results


Google is beta testing a new publishing platform that allows well-established brands and celebrities to publish content directly onto the Google search results (related to their websites) in a Twitter-like stream. This was first noticed by Mike Blumenthal, who was doing a search for engagement rings buffalo.

Then, when you click through to the individual posts you land on a page that has a Google+ feel to it.

Verified individuals can now communicate with text, images and videos directly on Google. Creating content is fast and simple, and once published, posts will appear instantly in search results related to the publisher. Each post can also be shared on popular social networks.

We'll see in the coming months on how this self-described "experiment" develops. As it stands today, this new platform is currently available by invitation only. So, if you're interested then you can apply online to be included. If you represent a big brand it might be in your best interest to see what this platform has to offer.
