Pinterest Expands Promoted Pins Beyond Big Business

Last year, Pinterest began testing their own paid advertising with a very limited amount of partners using Promoted Pins. Those tests were expanded to some major brands with big budgets in May and Pinterest promised to offer more options in the coming months. Well, they're delivering on that promise with the introduction of Do-It-Yourself Promoted Pins. The DIY Promoted Pins are a cost-per-click advertising option aimed at small and medium business owners. Promoted Pins appear like regular pins within the Pinterest interface but they're marked as promoted.

Advertisers are able to select a pin from within their account that they wish to promote and decide on a target audience. Advertisers only pay when pinners click through to their Web site. Pinterest is also rolling out improved Analytics for businesses so that users can track what pins draw the most traffic and determine which pins create the highest engagement within Pinterest and on different platforms.
