Raven Releases a Schema Microdata Markup Tool That Rocks!

On February 19, 2013, Google's Pierre Far announced that the Data Highlighter Tool is now available in 40 different languages. This tool, available within Google's Webmaster Tools, is designed to make marking up your site with the code needed to show rich snippets in Google's search results easy. So far, it only allows you to create event markups for your site.

The Data Highlighter tool is Google's answer for site owners who struggle with the challenge of adding Schema.org markups to their sites correctly and if your site is featuring events then this is the perfectly easy tool for you.

One thing to remember about this tool is that it does NOT markup your site in a way that allows the other search engines/sites to see your markups. This tool only works for your Google results and if that's not a problem for you - then great.

However, if that is a concern of yours then continue marking up your sites with the official Schema.org code. See the screenshot below taken from Schema.org for the event code that all the search engines will serve up from your site.

This is a free tool and from our testing it provides all the basic markups (listed below) that, once in place, pass Google's Structured Data Testing Tool.
