Stop Guessing How Your AdWords Sitelinks are Performing


AdWords sitelinks have been shown time and time again to improve click-throughs on ads, but knowing which ones are the most beneficial was a bit of a guessing game until now. Google AdWords has taken a little of the guesswork out by adding Sitelinks Performance as a standard reporting metric within Google Analytics.

Previously only available with some custom tinkering, the new report can be found by navigating the left-hand tool bar through Acquisition > AdWords > Sitelinks. The new metrics show performance stats on each of your ad's individual sitelinks.

Here's an important note that Google included in the announcement:

Only clicks on the sitelinks themselves are included in the Analytics Sitelinks report; clicks on the headline of the search ad in which the sitelink appeared are not shown. This is different from sitelinks reporting in AdWords. (In AdWords, clicks on any part of the search ad are included in the sitelinks statistics.)
