Google Warns - Update Your Place Page Address or Else
Google has made it officially official. Those businesses that have a P.O. Box listed as the address within their Place Page have until August 1, 2011 to change it or face the consequences. This is the email one of our members received on June 30th.
...Subject Line: Please update your P.O. Box on Google Places
Dear Google Places user,
Thanks for using Google Places. To best serve our users, we have a set of quality guidelines for your Google Places account and listings. One or more of your listings contains only a P.O. Box for your business address, which is not allowed in our current quality guidelines. To make sure your listings remain active for potential customers to find you on Google Search and Maps, please go to google.com/placesforbusiness, sign in, and make a few changes depending on what you would like to show:
* If you would like to show the physical address of your business, please change the address from the P.O. Box to your business's physical street address.
* If you would like to provide your P.O. Box as a mailing address on your listing, you can add it in the second line.
* If you operate from home or want to keep your physical address hidden, please use the Service Areas feature.
Please update your Google Places listing by August 1, 2011 to ensure it remains active on Google.
Sincerely,
The Google Places Team
