Google lands Disney Search, including Go.com
On March 10th Google announced the switching of multiple Disney Sites to their engine. This includes ESPN, ABC News, the once popular engine Go.com (Infoseek), and various other Disney properties. Disney reports their sites received a combined 31.5 million users in January.
We found Go's implementation of the Google AdWords on their search results page quite interesting. The new ad placements reminded us of Overture's ads on AltaVista – i.e., the top 5 results on the page. In this case, however, the entire first screen (above the fold) consists of Google AdWords with standard search results trailing far below.
