  • I've been asked to brand our company across as many social media profiles as possible to lock-up our reputation management. Is there some tool or service I can use to consolidate all this work? I really don't want to visit all these sites individually.

In their case, a series of fake Facebook fan pages sprang up with promises of $500 gift cards for people who become fans of the various fake profiles. Users were then directed to fill-out forms which resulted in malware infections and crashed thousands of computers before the scam was brought to an end.

The moral of the story? If such a large, well-known brand like Whole Foods Market can become a social media identity theft target, it's important for companies of all sizes to make sure that their social media profiles are secure. With the myriad of sites out there, this can be a daunting task for the average individual or small business.
