Google AdWords Upcoming Changes

Google is reportedly going to be phasing out the premium sponsorships and change those areas on the page to the AdWords system. This is good news for those advertisers that were locked out of the premium spots-bad news for those that were using those positions to lock out their competition.

Currently, premium sponsorship positions are those top two search results with colored backgrounds labeled "Sponsored Link".

Google buys Applied Semantics

April 23rd Google announced the acquisition of Applied Semantics. This purchase likely ties in with Google's recent addition of blogger software maker Pyra Labs. The technology will likely help Google more precisely target advertising to the correct web page for contextual advertising.
