How can I get query keywords into my Google Analytics?

  • Google Analytics does not show the keywords/search phrases used to find the pages of our website. It says not provided.

    Can you suggest an actionable way to find out what keywords/search phrases are being used?

Answer:

If your site is verified with Google Search Console (and it should be!) then you can pick up some great data from the reporting there. See the Search Traffic, Search Analytics reporting to show the search queries you've been receiving broken down by Clicks, Impressions, CTR and Position.

The New Search Console also has the Performance Report that breaks down queries very nicely.

You can also associate your Google Search Console account with Google Analytics (GA) account to bring this data over to your reporting in Google Analytics for another perspective on it.
