Do you know of any free tools for monitoring Twitter?

• We want to monitor twitter for specific topics that we can respond to. I had suggested Hootsuite to my social guy but he says it is not the best or good value for money. What do you recommend?

If you're looking for a free social media listening tool to monitor Twitter keywords, phrases, hashtags, mentions, etc. there are two that we know of:

• Warble.co
• MyTweetAlerts.com

They both work like Google Alerts except they're for Twitter. And, since they are free, you can try them both and see which one you like best — and decide whether or not they do the job you're looking for — before spending money on Hootsuite.
