Linkbaiting - posting content that attracts attention and links - is not a secret strategy. However, the ART of linkbaiting sure seems to be. In any case, it's an art worth mastering because:linkbait.jpg

  1. Link Bait can be used as an extremely powerful form of viral marketing.
  2. Getting Links is the most expedient path to the top of the search results.
  3. Best of all, it's a strategy Google tacitly approves of.

In today's world of SEO, you just won't find a better one-two-three Kung Fu punch! Nor is there any faster way to gain an (unfair?) advantage over your competition! But, before we get to the "ART" part, let's spread out the canvas and look at the broad strokes.

What is Linkbait and Why does it work?

Remember, Linkbaiting is all about posting interesting content on your site - the kind of content that people feel compelled to tell others about by linking to you. A few of the more notable examples include the Diet Coke and Mentos video and the especially creative and talented writers over at Cracked who somehow manage to get almost every article they publish on the Digg homepage.
