My company is getting bombed with bogus 1 star reviews, how can I get Google to take them down?

  • We have around 40 Google profiles for various locations across the country. For the past week, we have been getting bombed with 1 star reviews with no comments. It is obviously spam. We have tried disputing the rating with Google but very quickly a response comes back saying the review does not violate their guidelines.

What can we do? There is absolutely no question it is spam. If we could just talk with someone or even email someone, we can show evidence that there is no way these reviews are real.

Answer:

The declines you are getting are likely being generated by AI. You'll need to go to the Google Business Pages Product Forum and post that you are being review bombed with 1-star reviews. The product expert volunteers in the forum at Google can help you escalate the review to a real person.

Be sure to include the proof of the reviews in your post there. They'll also need the name of the business, the links to the profiles impacted, etc. Bear in mind there is no guarantee they'll be taken down. Rating-only reviews are pretty hard to get rid of, but they may be able to stop it from continuing.

There is a way to report reviewers instead of individual reviews but, unfortunately, it can only be done in the Google Maps app on mobile, and rating-only reviews don't appear to be showing anymore in the mobile app.

If you want someone to help you (not a forum) we suggest reaching out to Jason Brown of ReviewFraud.org. He knows more than just about anyone else about dealing with these types of attacks.SEN article end
