However, in my experience regardless of industry, it's a case of asking clients to do a Google review as the first option and then giving them a fall back to other ways of reviewing you if they don't have an account.

I find a standard email politely asking and giving a clear set of instructions and a bit.ly link to the review page on Google, works best. This has worked well, especially where one has a conversation with the client first to prime them.
