How can I get another company's link removed from my GMB Local Knowledge panel?

  • Have you ever seen where someone else's links appear on a Google My Business listing? My company advertises with LandAndFarm.com but I don't really want them on my GMB local knowledge panel (as shown highlighted in the image below)!

    Although the links refer to a page that is exclusively about my company's listings, I think I'd prefer my GMB listing refer exclusively to my company's website rather than a company that I'm simply advertising with.

    Is there any way to get Google to remove this company from my GMB info panel? ...what are your thoughts on this?

Answer:

It's possible that Land and Farm has some kind of special relationship with Google to show their listings on relevant Local Knowledge panels, although we can't say for sure. And, having done a cursory check of other realtor listings, we do not see the Properties or Company fields on them. So this looks like an "opportunity" for you that wouldn't likely be available if your properties did not appear on LandAndFarm.com.

Another way to look at it is that the Land and Farm links present another web location, in addition to your website link, where people can go to learn more about your company and your listings. This could actually be a good thing.

However, if it really bothers you, we suggest using twitter to contact support — @GoogleMyBiz — and ask them to remove those links from your profile, which they may or may not do.

Regardless, from a marketing perspective, we'd view this as a competitive advantage. Just be sure to track those links and searchers coming from your LandAndFarm page to see if this actually works out to your advantage. In our experience we've found that our clients don't really care where the leads are coming from, just as long as they are good leads and that they keep coming in.
