Amazon Flow Brings Image Search to the Forefront

With the rise in mobile search comes the sky rocketing demand for apps. As the app industry grows and changes so does human behavior as a whole. One sector of the apps industry that's growing quickly and worth paying attention to is image search, including Amazon's own Amazon Flow.

Amazon Flow allows you to take a picture of an item or bar code and if the app is able to recognize it, that item (or a similar one) will be presented within Amazon's market place for purchase.

Flow also allows you to read reviews, compare prices and options from Amazon's regular interface. To be clear, Flow isn't new (having been around since 2012) but due to its recent integration into Amazon's mobile shopping app, it's getting more traction.

The ability to search images for purchase won't be limited to people buying through Amazon. We fully expect big named shopping apps to become an integral part of customer comparison shopping. During our own testing, Flow was nowhere near perfect but it wasn't bad at all. The app had some problems recognizing t-shirts but packaged goods were not a problem. We expect the image recognition technology of Flow and other image search apps, to get better as it's already dramatically improved since its introduction a few years ago.

If you'd like to check your stock against what's available online through Amazon Flow you can download the app here.
