Bing Gives Access to its Knowledge Graph with Bing Snapshots

Bing has announced a new API that gives app developers access to its knowledge and action graph through Bing Snapshots. Bing Snapshots allows app users to easily search for information found within an app. Users find something within an app they want more information on, hitting the home button with a long-press allows Bing to access the content on their screen and provide more information on it without making the user leave their current app. Here's a quick video outlining how it works for users.

Bing Snapshots is currently available for Android users and all it requires is an update to your current Bing App. Once installed, Snapshots runs in the background. It's similar to Google's 'Now on Tap' that allows in-app searching but Bing is taking it a step further by allowing developers access to its knowledge graph. This is a step towards a larger push to get mobile users and developers to start relying on Bing's tools and APIs. Developers should expect to see further integrations with this API when it's available for use in the fall. Developers that want access to Bing's knowledge and action graph API need to email partnerwithbing@microsoft.com. You can read their full announcement here.
