Change How Your URL Displays in Mobile Results

Google is now giving you the option to have your URL displayed in mobile results as...

The beauty of this update is that YOU have greater control over what is displayed in the mobile results by using schema.org structured data. In conjunction with this update, Google released support pages on relevant structured data, specifically for:

  • Site Name Schema - Allowing you to tell Google the website name you'd like to be used instead of the domain name. If you use this method, like we have, then we highly recommend implementing the JSON-LD option as it seems to be more accurate and less prone to causing errors.
  • Breadcrumb Schema - Allowing you to specify breadcrumbs on your site so that Google can also use them for your URL structure.

From Google:

These changes are rolling out gradually and affect only mobile results. The site name change is US-only and breadcrumbs are rolling out worldwide.

Expect to see these options rolling out to desktop results before too long.
