Fancy TLDs Don't Boost Ranking


Google's spokesperson Gary Illyes as well as John Mueller have both said it publicly...

Having your website on a customized Top Level Domain (TLD) - think .shoes, .realestate, .kitchen instead of using the traditional .com - does NOT have any affect on your sites's search rankings.

So, don't feel pressured to buy an expensive keyword-oriented Top Level Domain. The advice we've always given is to grab the .com whenever possible because people naturally think .com when they think of a website. Then instead of thinking about the newest type of domain, focus on creating a useful, content-rich website that loads quickly and performs well. The advice will carry you through for years to come so when someone tries to sell you on fancy TLD instead spend the time and energy on site speed or content creation!
