Google AdWords Introduces Cross-Device Conversion Tracking
Big news from AdWords this month. With the release of their new Estimated Total Conversions you'll now be able to track conversions across devices which include smartphones, tables and desktops. Eventually, Google plans to add conversion estimates for other forms of contact, such as phone calls and store visits.
Studies have shown the power of this tracking with...
"...over 90% [of consumers] move sequentially between several screens for everyday activities like booking a hotel or shopping for electronics."
Be warned there are currently limitations to the accuracy and types of data that can be found in this new conversion feature. "Cross-device conversions, a part of Estimated Total Conversions, are tracked only for search ads traffic on Google.com at this time. We don't currently track cross-device or cross-browser conversions for AdSense... or any other Google properties."
The good news is that the AdWords staff is currently working on making the Estimated Total Conversions feature more comprehensive, it's a free feature and it's available to all AdWords advertisers.
