Perhaps you are looking to buy some flowers but don't know the name of the kind you want, you could search by subject and Google will sort the images by the type of flower in each image.

This creates a new method for users to find your images. Here are a few tips to take advantage of this recent change:

  • File Name – Use keywords in the file name for your image.
  • Individual URL for the Image – Give your images their own URLs and have the URLs contain keywords for that image.
  • Individual URL for the Page – This makes the page easier for Google to crawl and if your page URL is related to your image that helps Google figure out what the image is.
  • Links to the Image – Build strong links around your images, both internal and externally.
  • Links to the Page Housing the Image – Build links to the pages that hold your images, again both internal and externally.
  • Alternative Text Tag – This helps Google understand what the image is as well, using keywords is okay but don't overdo it.
  • Make the image itself valuable. – This is basically Google’s idea of original or unique content. If you have a unique picture other people will link to it.
