Improves Information on Reconsideration Requests


Google has increased the transparency of their reconsideration requests, and surprise, surprise, webmasters love it.

In the past, when you submitted a reconsideration request to Google, you got a standard message telling you they received your request. Then after waiting an unknown amout of time you'd get their second message stating that the process was complete.

Now they've added relevant information to these messages. You now get to know if the action against your site was manual or automatic, which can be more helpful than many people realize. For example, the Panda Update was an algorithm update and sites effected by it had an automatic action applied to their site.

Google takes this a step further and will now continue to tell you if there is a problem or if they were able to revoke the manual action.

Google has stated there is a delicate balance they must follow in these situations as too much transparency makes it easier for spammers to do harm, but they are, as always, working to create a better relationship with webmasters.
