Use The Standout Tag and Get Featured in Google News


Google is providing a new tag for publishers to include in the headings of their most standout work. The tag is used similar to the nofollow tag using the rel attribute like so: rel="standout" and according to Google, this tag is to be used for...

"...exceptional original reporting, deep investigative work, scoops and exclusives, and various special projects that quite clearly stand out."

Google warns to *not* use the tag more than seven times per calendar week for your own work. Any more than that and a penalty could follow. However, you can use the tag as often as you want to recognize other sources of standout material.
