Yahoo Data & Security Features now in Bing Webmaster Tools

August 16th Bing announced the long anticipated integration of Yahoo traffic data into Bing's Webmaster Tools.

The data from Bing Powered Yahoo Search (Binghoo) will be included in Webmasters Traffic Summary Report and Page Traffic Reports. When the combined data is shown from both engines, a Bing and Yahoo icon will show in the upper right hand corner of the screen as shown below. This new data appears to have begun flowing in on August 12th.

Combined Bing & Yahoo Traffic

The inclusion of Yahoo's traffic will have an impact on Impressions, Clicks and Click Through Rates in the reporting. In some cases, such as the one above, a huge jump in traffic levels may occur. Obviously, the site above is getting a lot more traffic from Yahoo than Bing with the big jump on August 12th.

Bing also reported a change to Webmaster Tools account security features which help to secure against unintended URL removals. The new feature gives you the ability to set a level of access for each member allowed access to a domain.

To start, login to Bing Webmaster Tools and choose the domain you want to modify. Then on the left menu, underneath Settings, click the Users link.

A list of accounts allowed to access that domain will appear, along with their role for the site. When you add, or edit an account user, you have the ability to restrict their access to specific sections of the site and to assign them Administrator, Read/Modify or Read Only access levels.
