Advertising Spending Trends Are Changing


According to research reported at eMarketer, more money will be spent on digital display ads than search ads in the US for the first time ever in 2016. Display advertising includes 'banners and other', video, rich media and sponsorships. 'Banners and other', which includes advertising on social media sites, is the largest spending category under display ads accounting for 1 out of every $5 spent with Video ads coming in second.

When advertising dollars are projected by device mobile advertising is the clear winner in 2016 with $42.01 billion in spending over $25.08 for desktop.
