Google Allows Users to Do Serious Maps Editing


In an effort to make their product more robust Google has opened up Maps to the community even more and expanded how and what items can be included in its interface. Maps will now take suggested edits from all users on both the Maps App for Android and Google mobile search on both iOS and Android.

Further, on top of being able to make edits for existing/new locations, hours of operation and contact info users can add even more details such as whether or not a location offers outdoor seating or if it's an appropriate place for family dining. Suggestions can be made by anyone and the edits are tagged for users to vote on their accuracy. Once enough people confirm the proposed information is accurate it goes live on Maps.
