Google Highlights Structured Data + New Beginner's Coding Guide

Structured Data is something that has been in just about every SEN issue for the last three years at least. This code, which is dictated by the foundational rules outlined on Schema.org, allows you to control some of the additional content within your company's Google Knowledge Panel. It's also what awards sites with those cool Rich Results with the review stars, price tags, images, etc. that increase your click through rates from organic search.

I'm thinking you can see that it's an important strategy that we highly recommend... So, why are we talking about this so vaguely?

Well, Google published the first blog post in a promised series outlining a few of the Structured Data basics as well as best practice tips that all led to their Codelab guide that allows you to practice with the code itself.

  • Actionable Strategy — If you're new to Structured Data markup then you should read these two SEN articles to get caught up. They not only explain the concepts, they also show you the code to use and how/where to add it to your pages.

Then it's a good idea to jump into Google's Codelab to do a little hands on learning. There are no amazing new tips to be found but it will allow you to dig deeper into your knowledge by seeing the code in action.

We'll keep an eye on this blog post series that Google has promised is coming and keep you posted on anything interesting that we learn.html>
