Google Less Likely to Trust a Link That's Changed


Former Google Webspam and Search quality team employee, Pedro Dias caused a few waves when he tweeted this message:

Dias, who now works as an SEO Consultant, wouldn't state on the record whether his information came from his own SEO trials or his insider's knowledge as part of the Google team but the idea of a bit of trust being lost when a link is changed makes sense.

Dias was then asked by a fellow Twitter user how much trust was lost and he responded that it was not a huge amount, especially if it's located on a reputable site. So while it's worth noting that there could be a potential loss of trust in such an instance, it's likely negligible, as long as the rest of your site is following the best guidelines.
