Google Now Indexing Some Ajax and Javascript Comments


People have been noticing that Google has started indexing Facebook and other site comments, and serving them up in the search results. Before this, Google couldn't index these comments because they were run by AJAX and Javascript. However, Google has confirmed this change and now comments in this format can and will be indexed.

While the change isn't universal yet, comments from Facebook and Disqus will both show up for sure. The advantage of this change doesn't just come from comments, Google will have an easier time indexing any other content using Javascript or AJAX on your site. The impact this will have on your site and its rankings is still uncertain until this becomes more mainstream. However, comments are considered many things including fresh content, so it can't hurt.
