Pushing Unwanted Downloads on Visitors? Google is Watching You...


Google is now warning users away from sites that have been identified as having unwanted program installations. In their announcement, Google said they will be combatting this issue in three ways.

  1. In the Chrome browser, users will receive a big fat red warning when a site has been detected trying to fool users into installing anything onto their computer.

Google will be alerting searchers to sites using deceptive installation practices within the search results. Google will be disabling ads of sites that attempt to fool users into installing unwanted software.

As you know, we recommend using Google Webmaster Tools and this is just another reason. If your site is found to be using deceptive practices you can expect to see a notice from Google letting you know.
