Facebook Embraces Wordpress

Earlier this month Facebook launched their new official WordPress plugin and a video providing users with tips on optimizing their Facebook pages.

The long awaited WordPress plugin will enable bloggers and site owners to promote their sites while encouraging social interaction. No coding or technical expertise is needed to install the Facebook for WordPress plugin, making it simple for WordPress site owners to combine their sites with Facebook. The great news is that this plugin also works for Google+

Using the Page and Post feature site owners can now mention friends and Facebook pages, post to an authorized timeline, post to a specified Facebook page and allow Facebook comments (with full SEO support).

Additional features can be found under the Widgets settings page and include:

• Activity Feed Box.
• Recommendations Box.
• Like, Send and Subscribe buttons.

Along with the WordPress plugin, Facebook launched the first video with advice to users on how to optimize their Facebook pages for search engines.

Facebook approached Distilled, an online marketing agency, to help in the creation of this step-by-step video (shown below) that allows the user to build a Facebook page with relevant content as well as a great name. Be warned that the first half of the video is very basic (with terrible music) but then it goes into some useful resources available within Facebook.
