Using Multiple Breadcrumbs on Your Site? Read on...

Google's Matt Cutts recently addressed the following question:

"Many of my items belong to multiple categories on my eCommerce site. Can I place multiple breadcrumbs on a page? Do they confuse Googlebot? Do you properly understand the logical site structure of my site?"

In response, Cutts explained that Google picks the first breadcrumb on the page so you need be sure to order your breadcrumbs in order of importance. And if an item shows up multiple times in your page hierarchy, and it isn't excessive (3 or 4 times is ok, 20 is not) then Googlebot won't find an issue with it. In fact, it may even help Google understand your site structure better. Hear it from Cutts himself below:
