Facebook Updates Algorithm Further Killing Organic Reach for Business Pages


Facebook has made another change in the name of reinforcing the driving principle and foundation on which it was created: connecting its users with their friends and family. In a press release, Facebook stated that many of their users are worried about missing out on important information and updates from the friends they care about. Facebook had previously made an update in 2015 to address these same concerns. At that time, posts directly by friends were given priority in your News Feed.

Well, in the coming weeks, Facebook will once again update their News Feed algorithm so that anything posted by the people you care about will show up higher in your News Feed. This includes, status updates, photos, memes, videos and anything they might share.

Sure, this is nice for your personal Facebook life, but how will it affect your Facebook business pages? Well that depends because if you have a page that is shared and reposted by your followers to their own profiles and friends profiles, this change isn't going to affect you that much. However, if the majority of your traffic comes directly from page posts then this might hurt your reach and referral traffic.

To avoid this being a problem for your Facebook Page, it's best to always try to share posts that your followers would want to share with others in their circle.
