Squidoo is Now Nofollow

For several years Squidoo was a great site to use for link building and article distribution. You could write a quality article and either start your own lens on the topic or offer the article to someone with a popular lens already established. The lens would link back to your site passing along a bit of juice and some exposure to your site. Well, the days of double Squidoo benefits are no longer, as Squidoo has announced that all outbound links from their site will now be nofollow.

In their announcement, they did reveal that they intend to bring back some dofollow links in the future for certain lenses but they gave no indication on how those lenses would be chosen. This really isn't much of a surprise as directories and many types of article marketing seem to be falling out of favor with Google after the Panda update. Squidoo has been used legitimately and abused by SEOs and spammers alike. This move must be in part, to try and reestablish some authority with Google for the long-term benefit of their users.
