AdWords Releases New Reporting Tools for Bid Strategies

Google AdWords introduced two new bid strategy reports called Strategy-level insights and Strategy Status. Strategy-level insights allows you to see how your bid strategies are doing within one report. You can compare all the metrics involved such as CPA, conversions, and cost to determine whether or not you want to make changes. This can be done easily within the report itself.

Google offered the picture below as an example. You can see Artisan Pizza got 500 conversions at $18 an ad for a total cost of $9000 within one week. The report gives Artisan Pizza a clear picture they can use to determine whether they may want to adjust their target CPA.

The second new reporting for AdWords is the Strategy Status. This was put into place to let advertisers know whether their ads are running at their full potential. As you can see in the above example, Artisan Pizza's Strategy Status is 'Learning (setting change)' which means that they've recently made a change to a bid strategy and AdWords is now adjusting to optimize their bids. There are several different statuses and you can find the full list and their meanings here.

The new bid strategy reports can be found on the bid strategies page of the Shared library and you can read Google's full AdWords announcement regarding the release here.
