Google Plans to Index App Content Just Like Page Content


google_play_app2.jpgGoogle is doing more and more to appeal to App developers and their growing customer base. The latest change rolling out is that Google will now begin to crawl the different Android Apps looking for text to serve up to searchers looking for that information.

The indexing will work similarly to how Google currently crawls sites, in that App owners will be able to let Google know what information they want indexed or not through a Sitemap and Webmaster Tools. After your App's content and links are indexed, users will be able to find that content within Google's search results and have the option to either follow through to those deep links within their already installed App or bypass the App entirely to the site itself.

Considering the income the App industry represents to Google, it's great to see them step up their game a bit and make it easier for users to interact, find and use popular Apps.
