Reporting Fake Google+ Profiles
If you're on Google+, you've probably run into a fake profile or two. What are the telltale signs?
- A sparsely filled out profile with very little personal information, perhaps without a full name.
- No pictures or videos.
- Reviews are left for businesses all over the country or world.
- Reviews are mostly negative and generally, are for the same business field.
As long as Google+ has been live, they've been asking for user's help in reporting fake profiles. Back in 2011, Google Software Engineer Andrew Bunner posted a call to action,
"If you see a person with an obviously fake name, go to their profile and find the "Report Profile" link in the bottom of the left column. Report it as a "Fake Profile". We want Google+ to be place for real people to connect with other real people."
Fake profiles also violate Google+'s User Content and Conduct Policy under #12 -- Impersonation or Deceptive Behavior. "Do not use our products to impersonate." View the images below to see how you can report a fake profile.
