Yahoo & Google Outline 3 Year Search Deal

yahoo_google_deal.jpgWhen Yahoo renegotiated its contract with Bing earlier this year, they shifted the contract wording to allow them to work with more than just Bing when it comes to search-ad providers. Well, it didn't take Marissa Mayer to back to her roots and negotiate a three year deal with Google that allows Yahoo to display Google's search results and ads for both desktop and mobile search. The non-exclusive partnership set to start on October first is still pending regulatory review, but the initial reports outline that Yahoo would have discretion as to which and how many of Google's results it would use.

On desktop results, Yahoo would be limited to having 49% of its organic and paid results available to be powered by Google per its agreement giving Microsoft 51%. However, there is no limit as to what's available for third-parties to power when it comes to Yahoo's mobile traffic. At this time, the deal will exclude Yahoo's properties in the EU. As always, we'll keep you posted as the deal either moves forward or gets quashed but you can read the full investor's report from Yahoo here.
