AMP Updates: Recipes, New Reporting, New Features and More

Google has been releasing updates to their Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) project left and right. Here are the latest and most important:

  1. AMP is now available on Google's iOS and Android search Apps. Google's Richard Gingras confirmed this at the recent Google I/O event.

  2. 125+ Million New AMP Pages w/ Recipes Now Live. Google's Richard Gingras said,

We're also working to bring AMP to new types of content. We just started to experiment combining rich snippet cards and AMP. When you combine the two, your users get an incredibly rich and fast experience. Users can tap on your rich card and view a recipe instantly. They can preview more recipes instantly by swiping left or right within the carousel, thanks to the instant nature of AMP. We're launching this experience first with recipes, and plan to support many other content types soon.

This high adoption rate is exciting news for everyone, especially food bloggers as well as a good incentive to get on the AMP train.

  3. The AMP Project coded and created a bunch of new features for AMP users. From the AMP Project:
These [new features] include ways to easily add navigational menus to your page, expand and collapse content sections, integrate social sharing actions, and vary content based on visit factors like referrer.

Google is encouraging people to try out these features, leave feedback, and of course get involved in the community. Learn more here.

  4. Google adds AMP Analytics to the Search Console Search Analytics Report. This feature will show up under Search Appearance, only if you have AMP pages. For more information, visit the Search Console help pages.
