Google May be Scaring Your Mobile Visitors Away
Google will now warn searchers if a site in their search results is potentially not compatible with the device they are browsing on. For example, most mobile devices do not support Flash. If a site that is primarily Flash-based comes up in search results, Google will now display a note in the SERPs stating that the site may not work on the user's device.
Google continues to stress the importance of developing Web sites in the most compatible way possible, notably by using HTML5 and Responsive Design techniques. They recently announced two resources to assist webmasters with this task:
- Web Fundamentals: a curated source for modern best practices.
- Web Starter Kit: a starter framework supporting the Web Fundamentals best practices out of the box.
