Page Experience Algorithm Coming To Desktop


It's now official. Google's page experience algorithm will be applied to desktop beginning in February '22.

According to Google Search Central,

We'll begin using page experience as part of our desktop ranking systems beginning in February 2022. The rollout will be complete by the end of March 2022. This ranking launch will be based on the same page experience signals that we rolled out for mobile in August 2021.

Google goes on to say that, while page experience is important, they're still seeking to rank pages with the best overall information even if the page experience is subpar.

So, focusing on having great content is more important that stressing over page experience metrics.

However in cases where many pages are similar in relevance, then page experience works sort of like a tie-breaker.
